The Design-Build Differesnce

Four Pillars That Move Our Builds Forward.

When design and construction sit under one roof, four advantages compound across the entire commission. These are the pillars we lean on for every interior remodel, written into the contract before ground is broken.

— 01

Single Source of Accountability

When the same team handles design and construction, communication becomes simpler—and decisions move faster. Pacific Blue Design & Build manages every stage of interior remodeling, from planning and design to final construction. This unified approach reduces delays, prevents misunderstandings between contractors, and ensures every detail aligns with your vision.

Pillar One Single source of accountability — one team across design and build
— 02

Faster Project Timelines

Interior remodeling projects often slow down when multiple contractors work independently. Our design-build process allows design and construction to move forward in parallel—fewer idle days between trades, fewer change orders born from miscommunication, and a written completion date in every contract.

Pillar Two Faster timelines — design and construction running in parallel
— 03

Efficient Permit Coordination

Remodeling in established Seattle neighborhoods often requires complex permits, especially in older homes. Our architectural team prepares submittals to Seattle DCI, King County, Pierce County, and Kitsap County—built to be approved on the first review wherever possible. Proactive preparation keeps your project firmly on schedule.

Pillar Three Efficient permit coordination — submitted on record
— 04

Clear Budget Planning

A well-planned remodeling project starts with a realistic budget. Our integrated design-build approach allows us to evaluate materials, structural changes, and construction requirements early in the process. This provides highly transparent cost expectations and effectively eliminates the risk of major budget surprises during the build—every line item, locked in writing.

Pillar Four Clear budget planning — line-item costing before contract signing

Frequently Asked Questions

Elevating the Standard of Interior Construction.

Below are the questions Seattle homeowners ask us most often before signing a contract for interior work. If you have one we haven't answered, the founder picks up the phone.

How long does a whole-home remodel take in Seattle?

Timelines vary with scope, permits, and material lead times. For context, a primary-suite remodel typically runs 6 to 10 weeks on site, a kitchen-only remodel 8 to 12 weeks, a bathroom 4 to 6 weeks, and a whole-home remodel between roughly 18 and 28 weeks once permits are pulled (1,500 to 3,500 square feet). Every Pacific Blue contract includes a written completion date—not a "we'll see."

How do you help clients choose the right finishes?

Our in-house designer guides every selection—cabinetry, counters, tile, plumbing fixtures, flooring, paint, and hardware. You'll review physical samples in our Seattle studio and approve a complete material schedule before construction begins, so there are no mid-build decisions or surprise change-orders.

Do you offer any warranty or guarantee on your work?

Yes. Every Pacific Blue commission includes a written workmanship warranty in addition to the manufacturer coverage on every fixture, finish, and major system. The terms are spelled out plainly in the contract—what is covered, for how long, and how a claim is filed.

How do you prepare the site before construction?

Before demolition, we install dust containment, floor protection, and a dedicated work entrance. Adjacent rooms stay livable wherever possible. Daily site cleanup is part of every contract—your home stays a home, not a job site.

Is your company licensed and insured?

Yes. Pacific Blue Design & Build is a fully licensed, bonded, and insured Washington State contractor, carrying general liability and workers' compensation on every employee. License and insurance certificates are available before the first walkthrough and are included in every signed contract.

What safety measures do you take on the job site?

We follow Washington L&I and federal OSHA standards on every project—daily site walks, lockout-tagout procedures, and proper PPE for every trade. Lead-safe RRP protocols are followed on any home built before 1978.
